Date: 1 August – 30 September 2016
Venue: Shelter Community School 1
Heads-Up Academy ran a two-month community service project at a refugee school
where Heads-Up students conducted weekly enrichment classes with children ages 7-12. They were responsible to prepare sufficient and relevant teaching materials as well as run classes. Under the guidance of our more experienced students, our young people learned to be flexible in facing the diverse needs and ever-changing classroom situations.
We believe this invaluable experience helped our students grow in maturity by providing a glimpse at real life; developing a right perspective; building a broader world view and undoubtedly, triggering a compassion for the needy and marginalised.
