Event: Captain Ball
Despite the initial minor niggles that inevitably come with being the first event of a Sports Day, the captain ball match ran smoothly and was a relatively open game. A scoreline of 16-5 gave the first win of the Sports Challenge to the Blue and Orange team.
Day 2: 28 September 2016
Venue: USJ 23 Badminton Centre
Event: Badminton Open
Person-in-charge: Toh Jern Yoong
The Badminton Open category had a parent, sibling, or teacher pairing up with a Heads Up Academy student to form teams. Excitement filled the air as everyone played wholeheartedly, laughed at mistakes and enjoyed the games. The day ended with an intense match between Zhe Xin and father, Mr Heng, versus Teng Jin and brother, Teng Ze. In an atmosphere of camaraderie and sportsmanship, the whole school clapped, screamed and cheered them on. Battling for every point, the Khoo brothers finally triumphed over their worthy opponents. What a day!

Event: Football
Person-in-charge: Daniel Lim
In an evenly-contested football match, Burgundy and Purple Team emerged champions with a 7-6 win over Blue-and-Orange team. The match had tied with a 6-6 score in the allocated one hour of play time, and the decider was a golden goal.
Day 4: 5 October 2016
Venue: USJ 23 Badminton Centre
Event: Badminton Singles & Mixed Doubles
Person-in-charge: Toh Jern Yoong
The success of the Badminton Open the previous week was followed by the smooth running of the rest of the badminton events. Teng Jin overcame Yao Yi in an all-Orange Boys’ Singles final. Meanwhile, Blue team’s Rheanna beat Orange team’s Shu Yin to win the Girls’ Singles’ crown. Blue team triumphed again in the Mixed Doubles event as Mervin and Rheanna beat Teng Jin and Shu Yin of the Orange Team.
Day 5: 6 October 2016
Venue: MPSJ Stadium
Event: Track and Field & Prize giving

The day started with teams in high spirits and excitement. The weather was perfect, allowing the track-and-field events to go smoothly as planned. Everyone went all out to help their teams win points. After a few events, the participants were tired, but enthusiastic cheering from teammates, friends and family motivated them to pull through for a strong finish. The prize-giving ceremony ended with team cheers and a photography session. After 5 rigorously competitive days, Orange team emerged the 2016 champions and brought home the annual Heads-Up Challenge Trophy.
