Sports 2018 – Day 3: Track & Field Challenge 1

The air was cool as a slight drizzle sprinkled our heads from the cloudy sky. Students poured into the stadium with handcrafted signs, flags and an eagerness to win this year’s sports event.

The students, especially the newbies, were excited at the sight of the stadium. Some explored the place and had friendly races, while the teachers and some students made preparations.

Team spirit was high, and team members wore bandanas, painted faces and waved flags. Blue House’s flag alone fluttered proudly on a flag post. Everyone looked like they were sharing laughs and having fun. Not long after, the whistle blew, signalling the commencement of the event. The sun broke through the clouds and the heat was on!

Beads of perspiration trickled down as the merciless scorching sun shone on. Cold isotonic drinks quenched our thirst and rehydrated us.

At the end of a hard-fought competition, Burgundy dethroned defending champion Orange! Orange came in 2nd, and Blue finished a commendable 3rd while Purple acknowledged defeat.

Medals were awarded and hampers given out. Our rumbling tummies welcomed delightful refreshments before boarding the buses back to school, marking the end of HUI’s Sports Challenge 2018.
